The Long Waited Jaguar Crossover

on

At this moment, Jaguar is at starting phase of crossover development. Among the 4 models, Land Rover has been the major focus for the development. The crossover will be launched in 2013 based on the new medium sized aluminum platform.

This particular platform used front engine that comes with rear wheel drive (RWD) as well as all wheel drive (AWD). Carl Peter Forster, CEO of the Jaguar-Land Rover head company, claimed that the monocoque aluminum chassis being used for XK and XJ is derived from Jaguar and it is the most lightweight as well as low-cost when compared with the other rivals that have similar size. By altering the usage of steel in the making process, this happens to result in the reduction in weight for about 158 to 226 kg out of each vehicle.

This includes the efficiency on car body as well as other areas such as the usage of lightweight engine, suspension, brakes, tires, and other components. Furthermore, Jaguar planned to build these cars using two types of aluminum architecture.

The new XJ will use the bigger platform and in the future this particular platform will be applied as well on the 2014 XK and XF. This architecture will also be indirectly adopted on the 2013 and 2014 Range Rover Sport. As for the medium sized architecture, Jaguar planned to use them on sports car, sedan as well as crossover. Jaguar is presently developing a system for AWD that will soon be used on XF and XK. Jaguar marketing division has depicted that globally, 25% of all cars on the particular segment are AWD; and in mainland of North America, the proportion for this is much higher than Quattro, xDrive, and 4MATIC. In 2013, Jaguar will have AWD variant for XJ and XF equipped with ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The design for this crossover is still on-going, yet will be adjusted with modern and seductive style of Jaguar, which means the car will appear slim and sporty. The engine bay will be loaded with V6 engine which is a derivative of Jaguar V8 engine. Moreover, the option for diesel engine will be available for European market.

In addition, Jaguar will also produce the hybrid version down the road. Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) also said that the hybrid version will likely dominate 50% of JLR market sales in 2020. Even though the actual form of Jaguar crossover is not yet revealed, this 3rd model of architecture is predicted to produce cars that have been long waited. For sure, this sports car will soon become a very attractive Jaguar to car enthusiasts. This build will be offered in the form of coupe and roadster in mid-2013.

Looking under the hood, the possible engine used for the beast is V6 and when equipped with supercharger, this V6 engine is capable of producing 400 HP. A system of micro hybrid and AWD will also be added into this car. Like any Jaguar car in general, the style will be slightly conservative or retro. Out of the sketch, you can see that the form is similar to C-X75 concept, which is a sign that Jaguar will keep the supercar image and ascertain that will soon be put into production.

The crossover will be released in 2013 with the option of environmental friendly diesel engine 2.2L and V6 engine with the capacity of 3.7L plus the hybrid version with AWD. So make sure you are one of those that experience the sensation of Jaguar crossover.
