The Honda Prelude is a type of sports coupe that was produced by a Japanese automotive maker known as Honda. This particular vehicle was in production from 1978 until 2001, replacing the Honda S800 as the premier front engine, rear wheel drive sports car that Honda offers. This two door coupe spanned over 5 generations but was discontinued after the 5th generation stopping at the 2003 Honda Prelude , which was also known as the Honda Integra and the Honda Acura RSX type S during their sails in North America in late 2001 until its discontinuation in 2003. The production of the 2003 Honda Prelude decreased in sales and popularity prompting the United States market for the Honda Prelude to spawn the Accord Coupes to become the de facto replacement for the former star, the Honda Prelude.
For this reason, the 2003 Honda Prelude is often overlooked as being just another name for the Honda Acura RSX type S, but in overall market viewing, it is still officially called the 2003 Honda Prelude.
The primary competitor to the 2003 Honda Prelude was the Toyota Celica which is another straight 4 powered coupe that was introduced just several years prior to the Prelude. All throughout the early history of the Honda Prelude, it was challenged by all types of similarly powered vehicles such as the Isuzu Impulse, the Mitsubishi Cordia, the Ford Probe, the Nissan Silvia, Mitsubishi Eclipse and the Mazda MX-6. Out of all of these competitors, however, the Eclipse has been the only one that has remained in production, even after the introduction of such startling competitors on the current automotive market.
In the United Kingdom, the Honda Prelude was never considered a top competitor on the must buy list of sports cars. In fact, it was only viewed as a mid-ranged compact that was good for a sports car enthusiast that could not afford a sports car of a higher caliber, which usually had much higher prices than a car like the Honda Prelude, or any other car that was in its weight class. In fact, it was often overlooked for the more popular or trendier cars such as the Toyota MR2 model or the popular equivalent Civic and Integra models. However, this was probably also due to the fact that the Prelude has reportedly cramped interior and was often overshadowed by more spacious models in the Honda high performance line of vehicles.
Many enthusiasts thought that the 2003 Honda Prelude was a subpar vehicle, but there are plenty of reasons to look for a 2003 Honda Prelude for sale. For instance, these vehicles often take less gas than other similarly classed cars. It also has a higher pickup than other cars in its class. The car may miss something in luxury, but it certainly makes up for it in sheer power as well as overall performance. The 2003 Honda Prelude is still a very good car with very good features, all of which can be desirable to any enthusiast.
