The Panamera is a controversial vehicle from Porsche, especially amongst many Porsche purists. The first four-door sedan from the German automaker still retains a great deal of Porsche’s sporty DNA, especially with the Turbo model. For owners that want more out of their turbocharged sedan there is a large aftermarket marketplace with performance products that range from upgraded turbochargers to 3 piece forged wheels.
Under the hood of the Porsche Panamera Turbo is a twin-turbocharged 4.8-liter V-8 engine that produces 500 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque stock. The engine is also packed with potential. One of the easiest ways to gain more power is with a simple ECU retune. A number of aftermarket companies already provide ECU programs that increase power, torque, and acceleration with an easy plug-and-play unit. Many owners also will install new exhaust and intake systems that help the engine and turbochargers suck in cool air more efficiently, and reduce backpressure. For owners that really want an increase in power, a number of companies such as edo competition, will upgrade the turbochargers, thus resulting in power figures of over 700 horsepower.
Some owners will choose to upgrade their exterior instead of (or in addition to) adding engine upgrades. Companies such as Mansory offer complete body kits that add front and rear bumpers, spoilers, side skirts, and diffusers that help to redirect air around the car and increase downforce at high speeds. By increasing downforce, the car is able to brake shorter and handle better on the track.
There are also a number of chassis upgrades for the Panamera Turbo such as upgrades Porsche rims, suspension tuning, and big brake modifications. Owners can install new coilover suspension setups, anti-roll bars, and dampers with adjustable settings that allow for custom setups tailored for different tracks. Another way to improve handling and braking is by adding 3 piece forged wheels. Not only do the upgraded Porsche rims offer a premium aesthetic, but because of their forged construction they are lighter and stronger than stock wheels. This helps to reduce braking distances, improve handling, increase fuel economy, and provide better overall performance. Another important upgrade is the braking system. By adding bigger brakes and/or carbon rotors, stopping distances will be reduced and lap times will be improved. With most wheels however, big brake upgrades will not fit, therefore upgrades to 3 piece forged wheels are often necessary.
There are a number of different upgrades for the Porsche Panamera Turbo that provides owners with a more rewarding drive. Upgrades such as aftermarket Porsche rims, aerodynamic bodywork, and engine upgrades will improve performance and create an exclusive appearance.
