Ford Used Cars- The Fusion

on

Ford used cars like there Fusion is a mid-size sedan that was introduced back in 2006 as a replacement to the Ford Taurus. Actually we can thank CEO and President Alan Mullally for the radical changes in their design process because before him, most of Fords sedans were poorly designed. The Fusion is a much better designed vehicle than the Taurus and is the only North American made vehicle that was given a good rating as a used vehicle buy (a leading consumer website has given the Ford Fusion a good rating for a used car to buy). My research will be on the Ford Fusion as a used vehicle to look at.

The Fusion has three models to choose from, the S, SE and the SEL. I looked at a 2008 Fusion and found the speedometer and engine gauge systems to be easy to read. The center console that holds the audio and climate controls are easy to use as well. Some of the safety features that come with the Fusion are front side air bags, curtain side air bags, ABS brakes and traction control just to name a few.
Other features that were added that year but are options are the Ford Sync (a voice activation platform for cell phones and MP3 players) and a rear detection system.

I found three fuel statistics for the different engines and transmissions the Ford Fusion has to offer. The four cylinder engine had a fuel rating of 10.1-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.9-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The V6 (front wheel drive) has a fuel rating of 11.7-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.7-litres, per 100km for highway driving. The V6 (all-wheel drive) has a fuel rating of 12.4-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 8.1-litres, per 100km for highway driving.

There are two engines to choose from, from the years 2006 to 2008. The base engine is a four cylinder, 2.3-litre engine and this produces 160 horsepower. There more powerful motor is a V6, 3.0-liter engine and this produces 221 horsepower.

Let’s look at some of the pros and cons of the Ford Fusion as a used vehicle:

1- 2006 models have a problem with the suspension feeling loose.
2- Since 2006, it has been given a good rating (by a leading online consumer watch dog) as a used vehicle buy.
3- It got a four star rating from the National Highway Safety Administration for a frontal and side impact crash test done to it.

I hope this helps if you’re looking at Ford used cars like the fusion.
