The brand New Hyundai Hybrid Sonata has been revealed just before its Detroit Auto Show debut.
The New Hybrid Sonata now gets itself an upgraded petrol engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, larger and better battery with overall better efficiency of output.
Hyundai Motors has revealed their next generation Sonata Hybrid model in Seoul, Korea prior to its much-awaited debut at the highly anticipated Detroit Motor Show to be held soon. The new Sonata Hybrid gets a new and improved power train with stunning styling tweaks. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which doles out 156 PS of power and about 190 NM of torque.
To provide more torque to the petrol engine, a supporting 52 PS electric motor is provided to supplement the petrol engine and give it a quick start when going from 0 to 100. Hyundai hasn’t currently revealed the combined output of the car but experts expect it to better than the previous 2.4-litre petrol engine which ships with the current generation of Sonatas worldwide.
Hyundai has given this hybrid power train with better efficiency in the form of an improved 6-speed automatic transmission which was specially designed and developed for this hybrid car.
The car also uses a new clutch system to reduce drag during speeding. Hyundai has now switched over to an electrical oil pumping system and the battery pack nested in the boot space is now larger which promises more kilo meters of travel on battery power alone. Despite such a larger battery, the boot space now has 10 percent larger space than the earlier non-hybrid versions.
The design has various minor tweaks that have been made out to improve the car’s fuel economy. A brand new grille, snazzy tail lamps, front spoiler, rear airflow diffuser and a stylish under body cover are the new additions.
This new Sonata gives about 18.2kmpl, which is about 8 to 9 per cent more than the current generation of Sonata Hybrids.
