Here Comes The Mazda 2
The Mazda 2 is very different from its predecessors, but it has been built to a successful formula. ItEUR(TM)s been made to rival Ford Fiesta and if offered in three and five-door guises. It is of great value, very stylish and economical super mini. It has what it takes to impress even the keenest driver. All the engines suit the car and also offer class leading economy. All of this means you can ignore Mazda 2EUR(TM)s shortcomings and enjoy a great value small car.
Mazda 2 was introduced in 2007 and it came clear that MazdaEUR(TM)s engineers had put the super mini on a strict diet. The new car was much more stylish and much leaner than its predecessor. Once you step inside and start driving, the Mazda 2 feels like a sporty super mini. It has a perfect driving position and the seats are comfortable. One downside is that the seats are unsupportive. As you accelerate it becomes clear that Mazda is based on the dynamically excellent Ford Fiesta. Mazda 2 is composed with agile steering and good levels of grip. It is a great joy to drive in town as it has excellent damping and a light gear change.
Mazda 2 is also a reliable vehicle as it comes with the standard three-year, 60,000 mile warranty. Mazda 2 has lots of airbags as it gains full five stars in the Euro NCAP safety ratings. Mazda 2 doesnEUR(TM)t come close to Ford Fiesta in terms of luggage carrying capacity. It is 45 litres less than the 295-litre Fiesta. Once the seats are folded the boot increases to 787 litres. It has a generous legroom at the back. The seats are disappointing as they can lack support on longer journeys although being stylish. The boxy MPV lines are gone and have been replaced by a smooth super mini body.
It stands out from the crowd as it has boomerang shaped tail lights which give the baby Mazda a sporty presence. The interior is well designed and simple and everything falls into place. Mazda 2 is excellent when it comes to running costs. If you are looking for economy, the 1.6 litre diesel motor combines performance with impressive figures of 67.3mpg and 110g/km. The standard kit is generous too. All except the basic models get alloy wheels and air-con comes as standard in all the vehicles. The baby Mazda offers a great-value package from the start.
