Honda History

It would be a very hard task to find anyone today who has not heard the word Honda at least once. The Honda motor company is perhaps best known for Honda Cars but it’s also a primary producer of motorcycles. Started in Japan the fame of the company has now spread all over the world and basically on any road in the world you would be able to see some Honda vehicle.

Those enthusiastic ‘car lovers’ might might be pleased to hear that there are a number of Honda Cars that would be released in 2010. The bad news is that you would have to wait for some time to get your hands on those cars.

The story of Honda Cars is one that is very inspiring and challenging. The rags to riches story of Soichiro Honda is one that probably many of you are familiar with. His journey from a mechanic to a multi-millionaire through the ashes of the Second World War has inspired a lot of people.

Honda Cars like the S2000, Accord, Civic, CR-V and Insight are now quite a common sight and a range of Hybrid cars have also been available from around 2002. The production of such cars has been restrained due to the restricted availability of hydrogen filling stations around the globe especially in developing countries. This however has proven the flexibility of the company and its ability to keep in touch with changing attitudes of consumers.

Honda was also a ground breaking Japanese auto manufacturer to produce a luxury brand. In 1986 the company initiated the luxury brand Acura. S500, a sports car was the first car to be released by the company. The company has not remained limited to the mere production of vehicles and has even produced their very own robot ASIMO in 2000 through its involvement in robotics research.

Honda Cars are generally very fuel efficient and this has certainly given them an edge over their competitors. With awareness increasing about global warming this is one factor that may have increased the appeal of Honda. In fact statistics show that demand for Honda Cars have increased during oil price hikes. Even at the factory level the flexibility of the company has been a great strength in its success.

Of course like all automobile giants Honda has suffered due to the recession. Sales of even Honda Cars reduced but with future forecasts appearing to be favorable the future for this unique company seems to be a sunny one.
