Mazda Used Cars – The Sporty 6 Model

on

Mazda used cars like the “6” have been in the company’s line up of vehicles for close to thirty years. This is a sporty mid-size sedan which was designed to compete against the likes of the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. Both Toyota and Honda own a huge share of this segment of the auto industry and Mazda new if it wanted to take market share back from them they would have to develop something fun and a little cheaper. My research will be on the popular Mazda6 and to see what it’s like as a used vehicle.

Mazda6 used cars:

The Mazda 6 unlike the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord was designed to have fun in. Mazda had to give up some interior space so the vehicle could look more like a sports car than a regular mid-size sedan. The Mazda6 has two different styles to choose from, there four door sedan or the hatchback. I looked at both models from 2004 to 2007 and like what they did with the interior. The “6” came in nice leather seats but lacked the room that other mid-size sedans have in which it competes against. The speedometer and engine gauges are easy to read and the center console is easy to use. Both models come standard with ABS brakes, power steering, am/fm radio, heat/air and a CD player just to name a few.

I found two fuel statistics for the various engine sizes that the Mazda6 has to offer. The four cylinder models had a rating of 10-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 7-litre, per 100km, for highway driving. The V6 had a fuel rating of 12.2-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 8-litre, per 100km for highway driving.
Both these stats are for their manual transmissions.

There are two different engine sizes to choose from for the Mazda6. The base model has a four cylinder, 2.3-litre engine and this has 160 horsepower. The next model up has a V6, 3.0-litre engine and this has 220 horsepower under the hood. Both models can be either in an automatic or manual transmission.

Let’s look at some of the pros and cons of the Mazda6 as a used vehicle:

1- An online consumer watch dog gives it an “average” rating for reliability.
2- There are some minor issues with the automatic transmission being a little rough.
3- There are problems with the radiator fan control system not working due to some soldering issues.
4- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it a five star rating for a frontal crash test done to it.

I hope this helps if your thinking of buying Mazda used cars like the “6”.
