2010 Nissan Rogue

on

The Nissan Rogue is based on Nissan’s C Platform which enables delivery of stiffness and light weight through the utilization of high-strength steel. It is a compact crossover SUV which is considered the X-trail equivalent in North America. It was introduced through its 2008 model year.

Powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder QR25DE engine that provides 170 hp, the Nissan Rogue comes with standard continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive. It comes in two main trim levels namely the S and the SL. As the base model, the Nissan Rogue S is factory equipped with cruise control, air-conditioning, anti-lock brakes, power windows/locks/mirrors, remote keyless entry, AM/FM/CD Stereo with four speakers, and the auxiliary input jack.

Options include the 360 Value Package and the S-Krom Trim Edition. The former includes 16-inch alloy wheels, body-color rear spoiler, auto-dimming rearview mirror with rearview monitor, chrome grille, and rear privacy glass. The latter option adds in the Krom integrated body-design, body-color rear spoiler, center exit exhaust, rear privacy grilles, and the 17-inch brilliant finish aluminum alloy wheels. The SL Trim provides additional features including the 17-inch alloy wheels, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, roof rails, body-color power outside mirrors, rear tinted glass, polished exhaust tip, HID headlights, fog lights, an 8-speaker stereo system, and leather seating.

The Rogue’s attraction lies in its more than adequate cabin space and fuel economy. Though not as premium-looking as the Nissan Murano, it can certainly hold its own to its pricier counterpart. It does not pretend to have off-road capability and is more suitable to daily commuting. Cargo space is increased when passenger seats are folded. It is a top performer in insurance industry tests for frontal impact and side impact protection.

Price variations may occur depending on specific trim which was expanded to include the S 2WD, S AWD, SL 2WD, SL AWD, S 2WD Krom, and the S Krom. The Rogue competes primarily with the Honda CR-V with a disadvantage of not having gadgets and comforts that other low-priced vehicles may be offering. It is the longest in its class although not readily apparent. It sticks to minimal ornamentation with only the Nissan badge and headlights providing contrast to the front end. The sides are equally simple in spite of the standard chrome door handles. Its rear provides the most interesting view due to the dark rear glass and taillights. The body lines are fluid and inspiring.
