The 2011 Nissan Maxima is a premium sport sedan offered in two grades namely the S and the SV. Much as we would like to be able to drive the car of our dreams, we are grounded by the realities of family, work, and our budget. Hoping to address the issues of affordability, functionality and attainment of dreams all at the same time, Nissan offers its 2011 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV for the buyers’ consideration.
At a base price of $ 34,280.00, it comes with standard equipment that includes the 3.5L V6 engine, CVT automatic transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, 18-inch alloy wheels, traction control system, vehicle dynamic control, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic brake force distribution, leather-appointed seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, manual tilt/telescoping steering column, cruise control, Bose audio system, AM/FM in-dash 6-CD changer and MP3/WMA playback capability, 9 speakers with 2 subwoofers, XM Satellite Radio, auxiliary audio input jack, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control, Nissan intelligent key with push button start, power windows/locks, power sliding moonroof, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and fog lights. The engine provides 290 hp @ 6400 rpm and torque of 261 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm. The 3.5L SV is a front wheel drive.
Options include the Sport Package which consists of the 19-inch aluminum wheels, smoked HID Xenon headlights, sport-tuned suspension, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, power tilt/telescoping steering column, shift paddles, and the auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Sport Technology Package adds in the Nissan hard drive navigation system, 7-inch color VGA touchscreen monitor, 9.3 GB music box, voice recognition, DVD playback capability, and streaming audio via Bluetooth. The Monitor Package throws in the 7-inch monitor with rearview camera, auxiliary input jack, and the USB iPod connectivity.
The Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV is in good company with competitors like the Volvo S60, Volkswagen Passat, Toyota Avalon, and the Hyundai Azera. The Maxima has several points to its favor including the driver oriented cockpit, highly proportional body, and accessible power. Its engine’s noise and coarseness however needs to be attended to pronto or else the Maxima is bound to suffer the cost of its competitors’ refined engines. The Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV is marketed as a 4-door sports car but it is at best a sporty 4-door. The V6 engine – CVT tandem provides a satisfying performance and I hope it paves the way for the Maxima to regain its glorious past.
