The models now premiered are the third generation models and several of these have been produced by Lexus since 1996.

The latest of the GS is the 2009 model which has seen immense popularity since it was launched. There is no doubt that Lexus GS is a status symbol for those who can afford it. There are various reasons for this, the major one being the luxury brand name. Since people know that Lexus is a luxury car brand, it automatically becomes a status symbol for those who own it. Also, not everyone can afford it which brings an element of exclusivity to it. Although it is an expensive car, its price is not the only reason that makes it a status symbol. It is also the quality features that come along with the price tag.

There are two main models of the Lexus GS in use today. The first is the Lexus GS 460 which has 8 speed automation transmission which delivers superb performance along with fuel efficiency. The car has a dual engineering system which gives it brilliant handling and security. There are many innovative security systems in the car such as Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management System (VDIM), Intuitive Park Assist (IPA) and Pre-Collision System (PCS). Through the use of sensors, the pre-collision system detects a likely collision and retracts the seat belts and activates the brakes. Moreover, the car even has automatic brakes which make it easier to manage on the road. In order to provide safe driving during bad weather, the GS even has water repellent windows and rain sensing wipers. The theft defiant engine does not allow the car to start until the power key is inserted.

The other model recently introduced by Lexus is the GS 450 H which is a hybrid version of the ordinary DS. It is the first mass produced luxury hybrid car in the world, and are environment friendly as they have low emission and emit a low level of toxic gases.

Thus it is obvious that the Lexus GS is not just a status symbol owing to its brand name; it is also the superior performance and quality that the car provides that have helped make it so popular. Even the hybrid versions, though being eco friendly, do not fall behind on any standards.
