Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. (NMIPL) was formed in the year 2005 and is a fully owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Limited Japan. It entered into joint venture with its global partner Renault in 2008 vowing together to invest INR 450 million in a span of 7 years. Nissan moved in the highly competitive Indian car bazaar betting on Nissan Micra in small car segment in 2010. The car now in its fourth generation has been selling like hotcakes not only in India but across the world with more than six million units sold out globally since it was first introduced in the year 1982.
Nissan Micra in India is available in loads of lightweight to high-end variants in both diesel and petrol engine options. The petrol variant incorporates 1.2L 1198cc DOHC 12 Valve 3-cylinder engine that generates 76PS and 104Nm of torque. The engine is coupled with five-speed manual transmission gearbox which delivers agile power and pick-up to the car. On the other hand, diesel variant employs a 1.5L SOHC 8 Valve 4-cylinder engine producing 64PS and 160Nm of torque. An automatic petrol variant was also launched recently to enhance the lineup. The Japanese automaker has cleverly adopted high technology engine and body structure for Nissan Micra which helps it deliver excellent mileage. The petrol variant returns exceptional mileage of 15kmpl/18kmpl while the diesel one delivers 18kmpl/23kmpl in cities and major routes respectively. This fuel efficiency has ultimately become its unique selling point in comparison to its B segment rivals Hyundai i10, Ford Figo and Chevrolet Sail.
In terms of exteriors specs, Nissan Micra has been given compact shape but at the same time blessed with unique style statement. At the front there are noticeable two parts grille and stylish front lamps which gives the car an amazing look. From the rear it boasts of a small mini-cooper like design elements, looking mature and smart.
Interiors of the car are designed to attract the young blood giving the inside cabin a luxurious attitude. Stuffed with all modern gadgets and amenities, Nissan Micra offers ample space for the occupants.
