Porsche Used Cars – The Cayenne SUV

on

Porsche used cars like the Cayenne were developed so the famous German automaker could get in to the very lucrative SUV market. Porsche needed to become a more complete automaker by not just building awesome sports cars but to build luxurious SUV’s and high-end sedans such as their main competitors Mercedes and BMW do. The Cayenne is not a cheap vehicle to buy new or used but with the Canadian dollar being so high this is a vehicle that some Canadians can now afford to have because of the thousands of dollars you can save by purchasing one used in America. My research will be on the Porsche Cayenne as a used vehicle.

Porsche Cayenne used cars:

The Porsche Cayenne as you can well expect is a very sporty looking SUV. This mid-size SUV does not have the same room as a Cadillac Escalade has but where it lacks in room it makes up with luxury. I looked at different models from 2004 to 2008 and all the models come with beautiful leather seats. The speedometer and engine gauges are easy to read and the design looks like it came from the 911 model. The center console is easy to read and it has a very easy touch screen to use for the various system controls. The Cayenne comes standard with power steering, ABS brakes, power windows, am/fm radio, heating/air and a CD player.

I found different fuel statistics for the different engine sizes that the Cayenne has to offer. The base model which has a V6, 3.6-litre engine has a fuel rating of 13.0-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 10.6-litre, per 100km, for highway driving. The V8, 4.8-litre engine has a fuel rating of 16.8-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 11.2-litre, per 100km, for highway driving.

The Porsche Cayenne has different engine sizes for its various models. Earlier models had the V8, 4.5- litre engine and this had 340 horsepower. The Cayenne S was turbo charged with the same engine but with 450 horsepower. In 2004 Porsche introduced the V6, 3.2-litre engine and this had 250 horsepower.

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the Porsche Cayenne as a used vehicle:

1- It was given a below average rating by a leading online consumer watch dog as a used vehicle to buy.
2- It has been reported at a Porsche forum that there are problems with the ignition coils.
3- It has not been crash tested by two leading organizations that do this throughout the auto industry.

I hope this helps if you’re thinking of buying Porsche used cars like the Cayenne.
