Subaru Forester: the Stylish Japanese Car with Improved Technology Challenging to Fulfill the Requirement of new Generation
Subaru forester is an all wheel drive which is manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries. This industry is manufacturing Subaru Forester since 1997. This car is sold under Subaru brand. The Subaru Forester shares its platform to Subaru Impreza since it was available in Japan form 1997.
The car was first introduced in Tokyo Motor show in November 1995. It was showed there as the concept of Steele. It was available for sale at market in February 1997 in Japan. It became available in United States market in the year 1998. The version of Subaru Forester which was sold in United States had larger liter 2.5 of DOHC EJ25D four cylinder boxer engines. Making 165 hp at 5600 rpm and 162 pound feet or 220 N-m of torque at 4000 rpm it replaced the Subaru Impreza Gravel Express. The Subaru Impreza Gravel Express was known as the Subaru Outback Sport in United States.
The second generation of Subaru Forester was introduces in 2003. This version is based on the new Impreza platform. It features some new items over the first generation. This version had some features like weight saving refinements like aluminum hood, perforated rails and a sub frame which was hydro in form. The most significant change of this version was the offering of 2.5L engine model. It was normally aspired and turbo charged. It was the introduction of turbo charged 2.5 L model in United States of America.
In 2003, the XT version of forester was introduced. The XT, was realized with the naturally aspired model of X and XS. These two models were in traduced in United States In 2004 while the models were available in the rest of the world since late 1990s. X and XS models are featured by 2.5 L SOHL engine.
All the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engines include a timing belt made by rubber and cord. This belt should be replaced at 105000 miles. If this belt snaps the pistons will hit the valves. This results in having to re built the engine. If the belt is replaced after 10500 miles, one can change the water pump, thermostat, belt tensioned etc with it.
The third generation Forester was designed by Mamore Ishii, the chief designer of Subaru. The design was made by the concepts of body structure of the Japanese spec Impreza wagon and the Impreza sedan of United States. The third generation was introduced in 2007. In 2011 Subaru Forester is going to introduce a new destination.
