Not much has been revealed about the details regarding the automatic gearbox. The upgraded Volkswagen Polo will be launched in the Indian car market soon. Volkswagen Polo India price begins at Rs 4.67 lakhs and goes up to Rs 7.36 lakhs depending on the type of variant one chooses. Volkswagen Polo is available in India in two engine options, petrol and diesel.Â
The petrol version of the hatchback is offered in two tunes of engine, one is the 1.2 litre petrol engine that produces a high power of 75 PS of high power coupled with a high torque of 110 Nm. The other engine option available in petrol version is the 1.6 litre petrol motor that can generate a high power of 105 PS and a high torque of 153 Nm. The diesel version however is powered with a 1.2 litre diesel motor that car pump out a high power of 75 PS and a peak torque of 180 Nm. The fuel efficiency delivered by the hatchback is not that impressive in the city conditions however, as far as the fuel economy on the high ways is concerned the numbers say a different story.
Let us throw some light in the fuel economy of the hatchback in both petrol as well as diesel versions. The 1.2 litre petrol version can return a mileage of 12.5 kmpl in the city conditions, while the 1.6 litre petrol version runs 10.5 kmp, in city conditions. The diesel version returns the highest mileage in the city conditions at 15.5 kmpl. While driving the car on highway, the 1.2 litre petrol version runs 17 kmpl and the 1.6 litre petrol engine offers 15 kmpl. On the other hand the diesel version has again emerged a winner here with 21 kmpl of fuel efficiency on highway.
The price of Polo is on a higher side which may be the reason that the hatchback despite being present in petrol and diesel versions do not sell as much as its rivals Maruti Swift, Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai i20. Volkswagen Polo has a good design and looks extremely contemporary; it is a perfect city car. The model has received numerous accolades around the world and sells in good number in the global market. With the new version in the making let us hope that Polo will be able to get as many takers as the company mulls it should. Hope that that the new Polo will make to the Indian shores soon.
