Hyundai I20 A Worthy Choice

on

Hyundai Motor India Limited, the South Korean based automobile company, launched the Hyundai i20 in the year 2008. Novel and trendier models of the i20 have come out in the Indian markets since then. Hyundai i20 hatchback series has become quite successful in India.

A high gloss front grille with stylish head lamps and fog lamps and the 185 mm 8 spoke alloy wheels give the i20 a sharp and stylish look. There are rear spoilers which have integrated stop lamps, body colour door handles and turn indicators on the rear view mirrors. The new model of i20 has adapted the new Hyundai fluidic design.

The Hyundai i20 is powered by a 1.2L Kappa engine with 80 PS power at 5200 rpm and 114 Nm torque at 4000 rpm. It also comes with a 1.4L gasoline engine delivering 100 PS power at 5500 rpm and 139 Nm torque at 4200 rpm, which is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The i20 CRDi diesel engine churns out 90 PS power at 4000 rpm and 224 Nm torque between 1750€”2750 rpm and comes with a six-speed manual transmission and gives a mileage of 12-15 kilometres per litre.

Hyundai i20 is a spacious car and 5 adults can be easily accommodated. The dashboard and the metal finished centre console give an elegant look. Other features include a five door central locking system, keyless entry, day-night rear mirror, tachometer, e-power steering, adjustable OVRMs, front-rear power windows, and passenger vanity mirror. The gear knobs have a leather and chrome finish, while the CD/MP3 compatible stereo system with an auxiliary input takes care of your entertainment.

Hyundai i20 comes with a few safety features like Antilock Brake System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, rear parking camera, airbags for driver and passenger in the front along with side and curtain airbags for rear passengers. The car has rain sensing wipers, automatic darkness sensing headlamps, impact sensing auto door unlock and advanced engine immobilizer.

Hyundai i20 has a long list of diesel and petrol variants, the major names being Sportz, Asta, Magna, Era among others. These variants come in a price range of Rs. 4.5 lakhs to Rs. 8 lakhs depending on the features offered in the model. The car may not have all the bells and whistles a lot of consumers want. The soft suspension results in a highly disturbing ride on uneven roads. Another drawback of the car is that there is no leg space for the third person sitting in the rear middle seat, because of the projected glass holder.

Nevertheless, Hyundai i20 is definitely a car to consider in this price range with its stylish looks and comfy interiors.
