TechArt GT Street RS Porsche 911 GT2 RS

TechArt builds a 700+ horsepower monster.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is the most extreme model available from Porsche. It sports a 620 horsepower, twin-turbocharged engine, forged Porsche wheels, carbon fiber bodywork, and uses aggressive weight-saving techniques in the name of performance. TechArt has taken that platform and created an incredibly powerful rear-wheel drive machine capable of 218 mph by giving the GT2 RS a number of engine upgrades, forged concave wheels, new bodywork, and a refined interior.

The most exciting part of the TechArt GT Street RS is the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter engine. The flat-six sends an astonishing 620 horsepower to each of the rear forged Porsche wheels, but has been modified by TechArt to reach otherworldly levels of performance. The German tuner installed new air filters, pressure sensors, piping, stainless steel manifolds, larger intercoolers, T35 VTG turbochargers, a new exhaust system, and sport clutch. All of the components work together with an updated software program to create 720 horsepower at 6,600 RPM and 664 lb-ft. of torque at 5,000 RPM.

With the engine sending all 720 horsepower to the rear forged Porsche wheels, the TechArt GT Street RS can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.3 seconds. Reaching 124 mph takes a mere 9.5 seconds and 186 mph comes about in 24.8 seconds. A top speed of 218 mph is possible with special tires fitted to forged concave wheels.

But in order to reach these incredible speeds, TechArt had to improve the overall aerodynamics of the GT2 RS. A special GT Street RS body kit was designed and consists of an adjustable front spoiler and fixed carbon fiber splitter, an aerodynamic engine hood, special headlight trims, side skirts, and new air intake ducts at the rear fender. The rear of the GT2 was optimized with a carbon fiber diffuser, spoiler, aero wing, and supports. These upgrades helped to create downforce in order to stabilize the GT Street RS at high speeds.

The immense power being sent to the rear wheels necessitated an upgrade. The original rims were replaced with forged concave wheels that were over 25 percent lighter than a comparable light alloy wheel. At the front axle, TechArt installed 8.5J x 20 wheels, while the rear wears a larger 12J x 20 fitment for added grip. The ride height was also modified for a better center of gravity. Using a VarioPlus coilover suspension, TechArt was able to give the GT2 RS more dynamic handling characteristics.

The interior of the GT2 RS was also given a styling treatment. The stock interior was replaced with new custom leather with unique stitching in any color, carbon fiber trim, floor mats, and illuminated door sills. The Sport Chrono gauges and instrument dials were given a custom color, while the pedals and foot rests were replaced with aluminum units.

The TechArt GT Street RS is available as a complete car from the German tuner. Pricing and availability have not been released.
