The current difficult economic climate has evidently thrown the motor industry into turmoil. News of record losses and stagnant sales has plastered news bulletins for months, but this should by no means deter the motorist from doing what they do best; motoring.
If you’re in the market for Land Rover, be it for carting the family about or towing trailers across the country, then you’ll be facing a fairly hefty financial commitment. With brand new Range Rovers starting at around £65,000, show room prices can seem a little steep for some. But not to worry, across the UK there’s thousands of Used Land Rover deals to be snapped up and driven away, whatever model you’re looking for.
As mentioned before, brand new Range Rovers can carry some hefty price tags, but few prospective buyers can resist the space-age looks and luxury interior. With plenty of power under the bonnet, Land Rover’s recent generation of the Range Rover can handle just about. But find yourself a three year old, standard model, you can be looking to pay around £30,000 as opposed to £60,000 upwards brand new. If you’re budgets a little more forgiving, you might just find yourself a newer model with a higher specification for around £45,000 – much less than the £80,000 upward price tag for top of the range models.
The Land Rover Discovery is the little brother to the Range Rover, and whilst it shares the same space-age styling of the Range Rover, it is by no means overshadowed by the elder sibling. The smaller, more compact Discovery is a formidable driving machine in its own right and used all over the country for both family motoring and industry transport. A base, three year old model can be found bought for as little as £13,000, whilst a top of the range, one year old model can be bought for around £45,000. So whatever your budget, there’s bound to be a used Discovery out there to suit you.
The Land Rover Freelander has been argued to be the odd one out: the ‘other’ Land Rover. Not quite as prestigious as the Range Rover or the Discovery, the Freelander is often found in farm yards and family garages. It’s spacious, simple design means it’s ideal for family motoring, whilst it’s wide range of engines doubles this model’s diversity. It’s cheap too – three year old, base models can be snapped up for as little as £9,000. So, if a stationwagon-come-workhorse is what you’re after, do your homework and you might just find yourself a bargain.
The Used Land Rover Defender is a timeless machine. Endlessly customisable, there’s an insane amount of variants peppered all over the UK’s used car markets. So if you’re looking to buy one, be sure you know the car inside out before you sign the dotted line – you don’t want any nasty surprises! Having said that, with three year old, base models fetching around £10,000, should you find yourself the Defender you want, you’ll certainly snap up a bargain compared to brand new prices.
