Mercedes-Benz Used Cars- The Entry Level C-Class

on

Mercedes-Benz used cars like there C-Class models are there entry level vehicle to their fleet of luxurious sedans. In 1993 Mercedes-Benz decided to replace the 190 model with the C-Class and give it a new face lift. When introduced to the public in 1993, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class became the most popular selling model worldwide for the German automaker and this was due to the fact it was an entry level Mercedes and a lot of people could afford it. There are several different C-Class models over the years but I will be focusing my research on models from 2005 to 2006 as a used vehicle to look at.

I look at a C240 and C320 from the year 2005. The Mercedes-Benz C240 is a well equipped model and this comes standard with power height and backrest adjustments, leather seat inserts, power windows, seven speaker audio system with weather band, cruise control and all season tires that are 16-inch aluminum wheels. The Mercedes-Benz C320 is a better model and has more luxurious upgrades that include a 10-way power front seat that includes a power adjustable steering column, dual-zone automatic climate control system and a Bose 10-speaker stereo just to name a few.

There are several different fuel statistics for the various engines that the C-Class has to offer. For the 1.8- litre engine (manual transmission) the fuel rating is 6.8-litres, per 100km, for highway driving and for the high end models with larger engines, the average fuel rating is 9-litres, per 100km for highway driving. Also these vehicles that are not AMG models have an average fuel rating 10 to 13.5-litres, per 100km for city driving. Models with the AMG package have a fuel rating of 15-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 10-litres, per 100km, for highway driving.

From 2005 to 2006 there are several different engine sizes for the various models the C-Class has to offer. In 2005 the AMG model got a new V8, 5.5-litre engine and in 2006 a whole bunch of new engines were added to the line up. The C230 got a 2.5 litre engine; the C280 got a 3.0-litre engine and their best model got a 3.5-litre engine.
Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the Mercedes-Benz as a used vehicle:
1- The C-Class was given a rating from average to poor (depending on model) from an online consumer watch dog, for a used vehicle.
2- There are electrical problems with the climate control system.
3- It was giving a four star rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for a driver and passenger crash test done to it.

I hope this helps if you’re looking at Mercedes-Benz used cars like the C-Class model.
