The new coupe from BMW is the 6 Series and it is big, powerful and luxurious. We can supply a set of car mats for this excellent new model which will help to protect the interior of the model.
BMW launched the 6 Series Convertible a few months before releasing the Coupe and this was because the company wanted to make the most of sales during the summer months.
The design of the cars is similar but the addition of a fixed roof on the coupe gives it a real presence on the road. It looks as though this model will comfortably compete with the Porsche 911 and the Jaguar XK series. It is available with a choice of engines and these are the 3.0 litre diesel and petrol options or the 4.4 litre petrol version.
All engines are extremely smooth and cruising on the motorway is a joy. The sitting position is low but seats are supportive and provide lots of comfort. In addition, the 640d will achieve a speedy 0 to 62 mph in only 5.5 seconds and that is enough to satisfy even the most ardent speed freak.
The new coupe is sporty and comfortable. It easily absorbs the bumps found on many UK roads which makes sitting in this vehicle a very relaxing experience. BMW has added the optional Adaptive Drive which allows the driver to adjust both suspension and other controls to suit.
This means that you can choose sporty or comfort as and when you want. BMW has a good reputation for reliability and this one has excellent build. No problems are expected with this niche car but should any occur the extensive network of dealerships means that help is always close at hand.
The space in the model is excellent and for a coupe it has a large boot which will hold 460 litres of luggage. The front of the model is spacious and two adults will fit in the bucket seats in the rear but this is not recommended for long journeys. The rear seats are best left for children.
The BMW 6 Series Coupe is expensive. There is no doubt about that. For just a couple of thousand pounds more you could get a Porsche 911. Alternatively, there is the Audi S5 Coupe though this is smaller and much less economical. However, BMW does offer a premium badge and the company has its loyal fans who will love this new car.
Concerning running costs for the 6 Series, a big car with a big engine is never going to be cheap to run but BMW has refined the engine so that it will achieve 51 mpg and low emissions of 145g.km.
BMW has faith in its new model and sees no reason to reduce the headline price. Of course, there are a lot of people who always buy the company’s products and this loyal following will be impressed with the new coupe.
One or two problems have been encountered with the electrical computer system and if the company can iron out these small faults the car looks like another winner in the BMW stable.
