Over the past couple of years many motorists have made the decision to change their car for a greener, more fuel efficient option. Instead of persisting with a petrol or diesel-powered car that produce considerable amounts of carbon dioxide – a gas which can be incredibly harmful to the environment.
The cars these motorists are switching to have been produced by some of the world’s biggest car manufacturers, who themselves have recognised the need to make a change. The Peugeot 508 RXH, the Citroen DS5 and the Lexus GS 450h are just three of the hybrid cars driven by many.
But what in particular makes these cars so special?
Peugeot 508 RXH – This car offers an incredible amount of luxury whilst producing just 107g of carbon dioxide per km. The 508 RXH boasts a four-cylinder diesel engine, as well as an electric motor – which powers the rear wheels. It is also has a 68.9 mpg fuel efficiency rate, which is very impressive for a car of such considerable size.
Because of its size, as you’d expect, an incredibly spacious interior; this space makes it ideal for those business executives with families. You can also, if you wish, run the car on battery power; this particular feature is great for those who simply want to use the 508 RXH for a quick trip to the supermarket without having to spend extra money on diesel.
Overall, the 508 RXH is a great, greener alternative to the large diesel and petrol fuelled cars offered by German manufacturers Audi and BMW.
Lexus GS 450h – This latest Lexus model has seen a number of changes made to it; in particular its body shell – which looks a whole lot appealing than the one featured on the previous model. Powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine, the Lexus GS 450h epitomises a sense of great luxury. However, at the same time it doesn’t overlook the green elements.
It offers a fuel efficiency rate of 47.9mpg, which, while not as great as that offered by the Peugeot 508 RXH, certainly shouldn’t be sniffed at. In terms of the way the GS 450h drives, improvements have been made to its suspension; this change, along with changes implemented to its steering, make the Lexus GS 450h great to drive.
Citroen DS5 – Similar in shape to the Peugeot 508 RXH, the Citroen DS5 has a striking appearance. Big and almost futuristic in its design, the DS5 oozes class. Like the Peugeot 508 RXH, this car is also generously spacious – boasting enough boot space big enough in size to hold three large suitcases.
Despite its size, the DS5 handles very well; its suspension, in particular, is remarkably responsive. Fuel efficiency wise, it is capable of doing 42.2mpg – with both petrol engine and electric battery in play – and it produces just 155g of carbon dioxide per km. Although some might see this as standard for a hybrid car, the DS5’s considerable size and the huge sense of style it offers shouldn’t be ignored.
